“Be with those who help your being” Rumi
Horses are beautiful and majestic.
They also have an amazing ability to read and respond to people in an honest, non-judgemental way.
Interacting with horses in a therapeutic setting can improve self-awareness and increase capacity for emotional regulation.
Through equine assisted counselling I offer an alternative to traditional room-based therapy.
In the presence of horses and nature I will support you to become more aware of your emotions and build on your strengths to navigate life’s challenges and make positive changes to your mental wellbeing.
Whatever change you’d like to make, I’m here to support you.
I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I live and work – the Jagera and Turrbal peoples. I pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging
Sandy is a compassionate and empathetic counsellor who offers a safe space and gentle support to help clients work through concerns and improve their wellbeing.
Sessions are person centred and are typically held outside with horses but may include art therapy or nature-based therapy.
Sandy brings a wealth of life experience to her practice.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, she held a busy job as a communication and engagement specialist in the public health sector.
More importantly she is a mother, partner, friend and colleague who has lived through many changes and challenges.
Sandy harnesses the wisdom gained from these ‘ups and downs’ alongside her knowledge and experience as a counsellor to help clients fulfill their potential.
Sandy holds a Diploma in Counselling, a Bachelor of Communication and is a certified Equine Assisted Mental Health Practitioner with Equine Assisted Therapy Australia.
She is also registered with the Australian Counselling Association. She currently works with teens and adults and has a special interest in supporting women to navigate life’s challenges
